Infiltrate all 4 enemy Strategic Defense Installations and rescue the captives.

You are alone and facing immeasurable odds.

Do you have the skill and stamina to succeed?

PLAYING THE GAME
Red alert!

Using the platforms and ladders advance through the 4 Strategic Defense Installations:

Use your knife to attack the enemy defenders who will kick, shoot and bite to stop you.

Watch your step or you may become a human "Mine Detector".

Dodge the bullets.

Avoid running into your enemies.

HINTS and TIPS
avoid the bullets by jumping or ducking

keep moving or you may have a lot of uninvited company

GREEN BERET PARAMETERS
You may want to start Green Beret with the following (optional) parameters:

      -nosound
            enjoy the silence

      -slow
if you think the game is running too slow on your computer, try this parameter,
it will reduce the frame rate. If you are playing the game on a 386 machine,
            this is the standard mode

      -fast
this is the standard mode unless you play the game on a 386 machine, see above. If you feel your 386
machine is capable, you may try to use the "-fast" parameter. If the game appears to be in
"slow motion", your 386 machine is not capable of using the "-fast" parameter. You will need to restart
            the game

      example:
            grnbrt.exe -nosound -fast
this will run the game without sound, in fast mode

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
      386+

      256KB VGA card

      550KB base RAM

      1024KB extended RAM

      2MB hard drive space

      104+ keyboard

      MS-DOS

      optional:
      SoundBlaster compatible soundcard

      Windows 9x

TROUBLESHOOTING
      question:
            "where is the sound???"

      answer:
you must set the BLASTER environment variable so Green Beret can detect the settings of your
soundcard. If you do not have a soundcard, setting the BLASTER environment variable won't help

      example:
            SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H7 P330 T6

NOTES
The PC version of Green Beret is a remake of the original classic Commodore 64 (C64) game, if you'd like to play
the original version, download a C64 emulator and the C64 version of the game.

Sound samples from the original C64 game were recorded by Thomas Bolhuis.

This game is programmed for MS-DOS and it will run best under MS-DOS. Of course, it will still run in a MS-DOS
prompt under Windows.
