Spelbeschrijving

Jumpman Lives! is an unauthorised DOS conversion of Epyx' Jumpman and Jumpman Junior for Commodore 64. The game is somewhat similar to Lode Runner, Jetpack and Chuckie Egg, in that the player needs to collect items in levels made of platforms and ladders while avoiding enemies.

There's a story about a radical group planting high-tech explosive devices all across the Sagan Institute of Astronomy on Saturn, with the player being a skilled agent sent to defuse them, but it's not really that important. The goal of each level is to pick up all the devices (represented by yellow circles) while taking care to not fall down while navigating the levels, each taking one screen. As the title suggests, there is a lot of jumping in this game, and even the slightest misstep will send the Jumpman tumbling down, removing one life in the process.

Apogee Software originally sold this game as shareware, but Epyx, then copyright owner of the original Jumpman, ordered to take it down. However, Epyx' contract expired soon after, with the game ending up in Public Domain. Later, author Dave Sharpless released the source code of the game as well. The game has a built-in level editor, and users have created new levels for it.
