Spelbeschrijving

Betrayed Alliance is an adventure game based on Sierra's SCI interpreter that combines mouse controls and traditional text commands. Set in a fantasy realm torn by war and internal struggle, it casts the player in the shoes of a kingdom's general falsely accused of kidnapping the King's daughter on the eve of signing a peace treaty. Luckily, the wizard guardian of the realm seems willing to help, and so the adventure begins.

Betrayed Alliance was originally released in 2013 and was rated as one of the best fan-made SCI games. Later on, as author Ryan J. Slattery was working on a sequel, the idea came to update the original game with better art and sound, which were created after a Kickstarter campaign by artist Karl Dupéré-Richer and composer Brandon Blume. The result came out as a professional-looking adventure game in the classic style of Sierra originals back from the late 80s and early 90s.

Book 1 features beautifully drawn scenes and enchanting music, an adaptive hint system, combat and various minigames -- in addition to the obligatory mysterious plot and the usual puzzle-solving. The game comes bundled with its own official hint book and DOSBox for easier accessibility on modern systems -- but will run on period accurate hardware as well. It is completely free, but the author accepts tips (please see the game's home page for more information).
