GateWorld is a side-scrolling platform game that is best described as a Duke Nukem clone. You play as Captain Klondike, a space traveller whose ship gets stranded on an asteroid full of valuable minerals, but also home to some very nasty creatures. The game plays very similar to the Apogee classic title: you explore the levels, collect various useful items, and avoid the many traps and enemies that crawl, jump, fly and try to ambush the brave explorer.

GateWorld was marketed as shareware under the Apogee model, with the first episode being free to download and pass around.
