SimCity is one of the timeless classics of PC gaming that needs no introduction. Here, the player is an all-powerul mayor of a city, catering to all its numerous needs. You can build a city from scratch or pick one of several predefined scenarios that range from historical or semi-historical events to fantastic or hypothetical scenarios.
The commercial success of SimCity spawned many re-releases, and sequels, but the original game was eventually made free and open source as Micropolis, with free ports available for many platforms.
