StarMines II is a top-down, 360 degree of freedom (sort of) space shooter game where you need to navigate your ship through mazes in space to collect bonuses and avoid (or shoot down) hazards.
The main difference from the typical shooter/maze game of this kind is that your ship is affected by inertia and there are no reverse thrusters, making the movement somewhat erratic. Anything that hits the ship instantly destroys it, with only four spares initially available.
The game was released as Cardware, with the author expecting no payment, but asking users to send a postcard just to have an idea how many people played the game.
