This is an extremely obscure turn-based strategy game that looks and plays a lot like Warlords II Deluxe, but adds more features and runs in a much higher resolution of 1024x768. An additional twist is that the story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where an alien invasion caused the collapse of the human civilization, which was literally thrown back into the Dark Ages, while the effects of radiation created mutants that are suspiciously similar to creatures of fantasy and legend...

Anyone familiar with the Warlords series will immediately grasp the basics of this game: you have a capital city and a hero with a small band at the start, and from here you need to conquer the entire continent, fighting against a number of other pretenders. However, World of Atom Gods adds many new features over this core premise. The most important difference is that the game world is indeed overseen by gods who may directly or indirectly influence what is going on. Other unique features include advanced abilities available to heroes and many of the regular unit types, spells and enhanced city-building options akin to Civilization.

World of Atom Gods was written by Nikolai Ponomarenko, who at the time was working at the computer systems department of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute in Ukraine. The game uses many borrowed graphics and is only partially translated into English, with the bulk of the text being in Russian. It was released as freeware.
